Shanks is a aaracockra monster hunter allied with Rochol and Beatrix. He seems to be the most good-humored of his teammates, not as serious as Rochol or as grouchy as Beatrix. He along with the other two were hired by the village of Sedgely to track a rogue werewolf, which is believed to currently be in Caellond. Little else is known about him at this time.

History[]

Pre-Game[]

Before he worked as a monster hunter, he was a city guard.

The Black Claw Gang[]

The party first met Shanks and his companions when they made the ill-advised decision to sneak up on the travelling adventurers in the dark. According to Rochol, they wanted to see who the travelers were and make sure they weren't a threat. Unfortunately for the hunters, Dahlia spotted them in the darkness and alerted the party, who assumed they were being menaced by bandits. The party doused their campfire so that they were less visible, pretended to be going to sleep, and then Cree cast Sleep into the shadows. In the one and only instance of the spell working as intended, Cree was able to catch Shanks and knock him out.

The party only intended to disable the interlopers and restrain them so they could figure out what was going on, however Shanks falling unconscious almost immediately triggered his companions to turn hostile. Thankfully, Anther calling out into the dark that the party wasn't interested in a fight and the quick action of Rochol de-escalated the situation. Rochol sent Beatrix to wake up Shanks, and the hunters left again without violence. (And with a tip to the location of the werewolf they were hunting at the time.)

Where Wolf?[]

Shanks reappeared with his compatriots in Caellond, having tracked their werewolf target to the town. Much more talkative this time now that he wasn't asleep, Shanks was by far the most friendly of the bunch. He and his companions are currently looking for a werewolf that was menacing the town of Sedgely, and are attempting to get help from the party in the matter.

Personality[]

Shanks seems to be pretty chipper, and there is no evidence he holds a grudge against Cree in particular or the party in general for getting knocked out in their first encounter. He has a lively sense of humor, and is willing to offer friendly advice or words of caution where he sees necessary.

He has said that if there came a time where there were no more monsters to hunt, he'd probably spend his time traveling.

He also mentioned he would like to learn to juggle swords, but he first needs to learn to juggle.
